Newest Dragon Quest Opening to Be Shown in 3D Theaters
DQ: Monster Battle Road Victory game's opening to run before Toy Story 3 in Japan
Square Enix has announced on Wednesday that the computer-animated opening from the Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory card battle game has been converted to stereoscopic 3D for theatrical screenings. The game, which ports the Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road II Legend arcade card game to the Nintendo Wii console, will ship in Japan on Thursday. Kamikaze Douga, the studio responsible for the computer-animated sequences in the Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies game and Namie Amuro's music videos, produced the animation sequence for the new game.
43 Japanese theaters with stereoscopic equipment will screen the game's opening between July 17 and July 30 before showings of Toy Story 3. In addition, Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 (Baruto 9) theater will show the original opening in stereoscopic 3D and a separate "full version." Home electronics stores with 3D televisions on display will also show the full version. Dragon Quest Expo 2010 (the event that will run on Tokyo's Odaiba Island from July 17 to August 31) and Dragon Quest Attractions (the event that will run in Tokyo Dome City from August 4 to August 31) will both screen the opening as well.
The official website of the game is streaming the opening (without stereoscopic 3D) in largesmall resolutions.
