Kamisama Dolls Manga Gets Anime Green-Lit
Hajime Yamamura's supernatural action story about powerful "god" figureheads
Shogakukan 's Monthly Sunday GX magazine is confirming on Saturday that an anime adaptation of Hajime Yamamura's Kamisama Dolls supernatural action manga has been green-lit.
The story centers around Kyōhei, a college student who grew up in a village that deified figureheads named kukuri as gods. Kyōhei abandoned his hometown when he moved to Tokyo and immersed himself in college life. However, he comes across his younger sister Utao with her kukuri in Tokyo. He learns from his sister that a fugitive named Aki from his hometown has also arrived in Tokyo (with his kukuri in tow) and is responsible for a horrific crime that Kyōhei had just witnessed. Kyōhei realizes that he cannot escape what he tried to leave behind in the village.
The manga has been running in Monthly Sunday GX since 2006, and the seventh compiled book volume is shipping on Saturday. Shogakukan had already indicated that both the magazine and the manga's latest book volume "will have an important announcement." The magazine editors gave a glimpse of the manga's seventh volume, which has a wraparound jacket band announcing that something has been "green-lit."
