Kaichū! High School Archery Manga Gets Web Anime (Updated)

Yūki Hayashi's romantic comedy about pretty archer with a surprise

To mark the Saturday release of the second book volume of Yūki Hayashi's Kaichū! high school archery manga,
Shueisha's Web Young Jump website is streaming an original four-minute web anime movie. The romantic comedy short revolves around the high school archery club member Tatsuya Tachikawa (Kazuto Kokubu) and his reaction to Gonzaburō Fudō (Eriko Nakamura) — the pretty new transfer student whose appearance is misleading.

The web anime adapts the original Kaichu! one-shot manga that ran in Young Jump Zōkan Mantarō magazine in 2006. The one-shot manga and the web anime's story differs from the later Kaichu! manga series, in which Tachikawa is the new high school student and "Gon-chan" is the tournament-winning archery genius.

The regular manga series launched in Weekly Young Jump magazine last year, but it has since moved to the Web Young Jump site this year. The second and final web anime movie will stream on July 30.

Update: The second manga volume is being released on Friday, not Saturday. Thanks, Shuichi.
